P olyclone started operations in 2005 with a mission to address the research challenges in drug discovery by synergistically combining in silico & in vitro approaches.

Today we are an integrated biology company with expertise in molecular, cell & computational biology catering to the bio-pharma & healthcare industries. For bio-pharma companies we provide in silico & in vitro solutions that facilitate nucleic acid studies, peptide analysis & design, protein & enzyme modifications and small molecule research. For healthcare providers we provide technology support for cell culture studies and molecular diagnostics.

Naveen Kulkarni - Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer
In charge of Polyclone's science and strategy, Naveen comes with over 15 years of scientific & entrepreneurial experience in the drug discovery industry across the USA, Australia and India. Prior to founding Polyclone, he served as the director of business development at Philips Research, where he was associated with a portfolio of opportunities for new business creation in healthcare and energy. In his previous roles, he has risen through the ranks - from being a bench worker at an Australian research institute to heading the strategic business unit of an American drug discovery informatics company. He has conceptualized and developed novel solutions for accelerating drug discovery and directed teams consisting of experts from different domains including chemistry, proteomics and systems biology. He has been instrumental in conceiving new ideas that are the basis for Polyclone's patent portfolio.

Naveen has a Masters in Applied Science (Life Science) from Queensland University of Technology Brisbane, AUSTRALIA.

Praveen Rajendra - Co-founder & Head of Operations
In charge of operations management and day-to-day affairs, Praveen comes with a rich experience in project management. Apart from operations, he also manages the overall IT strategy and discovery informatics for both in-house and customer projects. Praveen has close to twelve years of experience in software services, including the development of enterprise-wide knowledge management solutions, drug post-marketing business intelligence systems and drug data mining and analysis. He has implemented several projects involving image processing, neural networks and the semantic web technology for research information systems (RIS).

Sanjay Bettadpura - Co-founder & Head of Sales and Business Development
In charge of Sales and Business Development, Sanjay has over fourteen years of experience in international marketing and business development in the Life sciences and IT industries across the US and APAC regions. In his previous roles, he has successfully set-up the North American sales operations for an Indian bioinformatics company, post which headed sales for the life sciences division of a knowledge solutions company in India.

Sanjay has an MBA from Maharishi University of Management, Iowa, USA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from National Law School University of India.

Mr. Arindam Mukherjee
Arindam holds an Engineering Degree in Electronics & Communications from University of Mysore, India and has various executive leadership educations from Wharton, INSEAD and Management Centre Europe, Brussels.
He started his career in the healthcare industry with initial positions in service engineering, manufacturing in the diagnostics area of ECG, Patient monitoring and Radiology imaging.
In his 21+yrs in healthcare industry, he has held various roles in service engineering, manufacturing, sales, product management, distributor management, P&L management, global field marketing, global marketing, global marketing communications, post-merger integration, strategy & innovation across various diagnostic & imaging modalities with increasing responsibilities. He has worked in India, Netherlands, USA & currently working out of UK.
Arindam spent majority of his working experience years at Philips Healthcare and his last position was Senior Director, Global Marketing & Strategy for Cardiology. He has years of experience in clinical domain of Cardiology, Radiology and Imaging modalities.
In March 2012, he joined GE Healthcare as an Executive for being the Global Head for Cardiovascular. In his new role, he is responsible globally for defining the Cardiovascular Strategy, Marketing and fostering innovation around cardiovascular clinical space.
Arindam is actively involved with leading societies and has special interests in Rural Healthcare (affordable healthcare for emerging countries).

 

Dr. Sanghamitra Burman
Dr. Burman graduated from JIPMER, Pondicherry and completed her residency training in ophthalmology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi in 2000. She is the recipient of the G. Venkataswamy Gold Medal in Ophthalmology awarded by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. She underwent fellowship training in Cornea and External Diseases at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai followed by the Ratan Tata fellowship in advanced phacoemulsification surgery from Sankara Netralaya, Chennai. Dr.Burman has gained extensive experience in this field from Moorfield’s Eye Hospital, London, UK, where she pursued Clinical Fellowships between 2003 and 2006 in the departments of Cataract and Ocular Trauma, and Cornea, External eye Disease and Refractive Surgery. She has obtained further key experience in artificial corneal surgery (Boston Kpro, Alphacor) including Osteo-odonto keratoprosthesis from Sussex Eye Hospital, Brighton, UK. She has served as Senior Faculty at the prestigious L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad before moving to Bangalore and is currently a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist with Vasan Eye Care Hospitals. She has been actively involved in corneal research and training, has published and reviewed articles in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored book chapters and presented in both national and international forums. Her areas of special interest include corneal transplantation, limbal stem cell transplantation, ocular surface reconstruction, corneal trauma and infections, keratoprosthesis, cataract and refractive surgery, keratoconus and contact lenses. Dr.Sanghamitra Burman advises Polyclone on various approaches to cell culture services for eye with special reference to limbal stem cell culture and transplantation for ocular surface disorders.

 

Dr. Mikael Kubista
Dr. Kubista, is the founder and board member of TATAA Biocenter AB. A global pioneer in qPCR technology, Dr. Kubista has been professor at the department of chemistry and biosciences, Chalmers University of Technology, board member of LightUp Technologies AB – one of the first qPCR fluorescence technology companies in the world, board member of MultiD Analyses AB and member of the scientific advisory board of WaferGen Inc., USA.
Dr. Kubista has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Chalmers University of Technology, Post Doctoral Research degree from Yale University, New Haven, USA and Post Doctoral Research Degree from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Kubista advises Polyclone on various approaches to qPCR based assay development, gene expression studies and development of diagnostic assays.

 

Dr. Amal K. Mukhopadhyay
Dr. Mukhopadhyay is the founder and director of ELGA Biotech, Hamburg and the Germany representative of Hamburg (HWF) for India, member of the board of EuroIndia Chamber of Commerce, Brussels, Belgium, member of the board of EuroIndia Centre, La Rochelle, France (www.the-euroindia-centre.org) and visiting professor, University of Pune, India. He was the co-founder and managing director of Agelab Pharma GmbH, Hamburg, Germany and the director, Institute of Hormone and Fertility Research at the University of Hamburg.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay advises on joint research partnerships and proposals with companies and institutions in Germany and India.

 

Dr. B. Vineeth Kumar
Dr.VineethKumar graduated from Government Medical College, Bellary in 1994 and completed his FRCSEd (Ophthalmology) from The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1999. Currently, Dr. Vineeth is currently working as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in UK. In addition to being a medical and surgical retinal specialist, he is actively involved in research activity, organizing teaching for medical, non-medical staffand medical students. Dr. Vineeth has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, written book chapter, short communications. He has presented numerous posters, video and oral presentations throughout his career and continues to participate in numerous national and international Ophthalmology conferences, leadership/ management courses and sub-specialty development courses around the globe. He has experience in leading the national diabetic retinopathy screening programme In Wirral and being Clinical lead for the department. Dr. Vineeth has participated in clinical trials and has been actively involved in clinical governance activity such as audits etc.He other interest includes work on preventive care and is presently working on projects such as telemedicine within ophthalmology. Above all, Dr. Vineeth is particularly interested in stem cell research and therapy in Ophthalmology. He advises Polyclone on stem cell research, its clinical application and commercial viability.

 

Dr. Sanjay Swarup
Dr. Swarup is associate professor at the department of biological sciences, National University of Singapore and associate professor at the Small Molecule Biology Laboratory – NUS. He is also the deputy director of the Singapore-Delft Water Alliance and PI, Research Centre of Excellence for Mechanobiology
Dr. Swarup has a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Florida, USA and a Ph.D. in Genetics & Plant Breeding from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
Dr. Swarup advises Polyclone in the areas of metabolomic pathway profiling and molecular dynamics.
